Email List Define:
Opt in email list contains email addresses of people who have signed up at some point to receive promotional offers and email marketing announcements within their selected categories of interest. A consumer bulk email list in receiving coupons or sales announcements from online retailer, of instance, might opt in to shopping category across a variety of web sites that offers email list announcements. Email list vendors like Email Marketing Blitz often collect opt in email addresses from web sites and we also gather them from smaller web sites within our respective network.
Some email list vendors and providers use different tactics when opt in a new email address. Some email list vendors for instance, has people sign up on their web site and then just to be sure, sends them follow up emails, requiring them to respond by email from the address they sign up under. Other email list providers sends a follow up email but does not require the recipient to respond. The email list provider only wants replies from people who have changed their minds about being on their list or have received a subscription in error.
What is an email server?
(Just to know information)
The heart of an email list marketing system is a server called the email server. There are two types of mail servers, one for each direction in which the email goes. For outgoing emails, an SMTP server (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is usually used. The server processes your outgoing email by identifying the intended recipients and delivering the email to those recipient's respective incoming email server.
A separate web server lets you recieve emails, and it is separate and distinct from the SMTP server. POP3 servers (POST OFFICE PROTOCAL, version 3) provide email boxes that can receive POP3 compliant email over the internet. Every email sent contains headers information that documents the path that email took to get you.
